Train to be a Community Researcher

Are you interested in supporting the development of your local community?

Do you want to learn how to carry out research; and find out what really interests and concerns local people?

Next course for Year 10s and School Leavers:

Part 1 Community Research Tuesday 30th May 10am – 1pm

Part 2 Community Research Wednesday 31st May 10am – 1pm

Community Research and Interview Skills Training for adults and young people will  be repeated throughout the year. 

Those completing the training successfully will be able to do outreach and interview local people. Community Researchers will gain £2 per completed questionnaire. For more information please call the Hub.

  • Volunteers needed!
    Do you have a few hours to spare during the week? Gain new skills, meet new people, help improve the look and feel of the area. Feel Great!!!

Pop into Bountagu to see what is going on and what help is needed. We have a very varied programme of activities and there is always something you can contribute.

We always need people with skills, knowledge and experience; people who can help develop projects, help out with our communications and social media, help residents with advice, information and how to access the internet.We need people that are happy to help locals improve their conversational English and help with form filling.

We need people with practical hands-on skills: people who can to talk to locals, help to distribute leaflets; help organise meetings and run events; we need people who like gardening to help with the flowerbeds and the allotment; we need people that can help out with the Monday afternoon tea, to put out the tables and have a cup of tea and chat with residents; and we need people with DIY skills to help look after community spaces.

  • Give and get! We are flexible and appreciate any time you can give.

Many people who have given their time say that they have got so much back! In the main all volunteers / helpers say they feel healthier and happier about being part of something bigger. 

All helpers and volunteers are welcomed with an introductory session and on going training as appropriate to interests and the area they get involved in.

Students can gain valuable work experience, skills and confidence.
Students that have volunteered with Bountagu have gone on to study and gain employment.

Internships! Are you looking for an opportunity to build your skills and gain experience in a dynamic community development environment? Internships can be organised around your areas of interest.

Work Experience for all ages. Are you finding it difficult to get work without experience?Gain unique work experience and an opportunity to take further training in community related issues.
